Sort of, maybe. The asshole who owns this building has been putting in the occasional window in random places for the last year or so now. But yesterday just officially pulled permits for $676k worth of work. Is he actually going to fix it, or is he doing the bare minimum to prevent the city from taking it from him?

That's, what, 12 stories? $676k would barely cover new insulation on the HVAC systems. Sounds like it's getting the bare minimum to keep the doors open. What a waste since it looks gorgeous.

That building looks amazing. Kind of schizoid between Spanish mission, cathedral, and Athens, but what the hell - works okay.

Even more amazing. It was built to be a train station. Here are some other pics, including older ones of MCS. http://detroiturbex.com/content/downto…

It falls into the Beaux-Arts style.

Bare minimum. I doubt $676k would even cover the windows for one floor of that building...

Unless he's pulling the typical owner/developer trick of pulling a permit for a tiny amount of work to avoid additional permit fees.

Could be, he would do anything to save a buck. The guy who owns this is a major asshole. He owns the worlds only private border crossing and is funneling shit tons of money into the state government to prevent a 2nd bridge from being built, after his deceptive prop 6 failed.

$676K on a building that big is barely anything. We re did all the windows in a 26 story apartment building, and I was told the contract was worth about $6 million Canadian (yeah yeah or $1 us dollar HAHAHA)

This building may not be as tall, but it's footprint is probably bigger.

Its 500,000 sq. ft. So yeah, definitely more than $676k...

He will loose that battle. Canada has around $50 more than him and will make it happen. Eh? Hope you Michiganders like Timmies!

Ok. The building I worked on is *something* like 200,000 sq ft. I got that rough number, by figuring out how many apartments were in the building, taking in general the avg apartment size, and then multiplying them together. Then I added 70,000 sq ft for common areas. I don't know if that's a good amount to add, or way to much or what, but that brings us to the 200,000.

Anyways $676K is a drop in the bucket for a building this size. Expect to see more random windows or him fixing something invisible like disposing of some asbestos or something.

I for one am more than prepared for more Tim Horton's. He is going after the suburban Detroit hating reps, so they will be more than happy to try and stall for him...

knowing him, minimum.

Great building. I love going to Corktown every year for the Corktown 5k and we start and finish the race there.

I was hoping for an answer along the lines of, "Well I for one, welcome our large double double drinking masters!"

Thanks for playing!

Last I heard we were willing to front all the Michigan money to get the damn thing done. There's a lot of building on our side for this to go nowhere. Deep holes, room for Republicans AND Democrats if you know what I mean.

Sorry bout that! I meant take off eh? Whats that bridge thingy aboot thar. Get oot eh?friggin huge bye!

BTW, I fucking love this building. I strain to see it when im running through the area. I was driven past it one day and lost my mind. Wasn't allowed to get out though...

You are, and everything on our side is being covered by federal grants. The only "negative" is the profit margin of the Ambassador Bridge, which is why the owner is working so hard against it.

I heard he was crazy. That bridge has never, in my recollection, had all the lanes open, or not been under construction. And I drove truck accross it 2 or 3 times a week in the 90s and 4 time a month in the last 6 or more years. Now I'm back home and further in Ontario so I use the Port Huron bridge. I actually crossed at PH to go to a site almost under the ambassador bridge...

Haven't they taken like 2 years to install 3 windows? I'm not holding my breath on this one.
